March 31st - Mojo Monday

Looking for your lost mojo? Wanting badly to try your creativity? So, join me on this week´s Mojo Monday!

Do you know what synesthesia is? Our goal is to mix two sensations and create a LO about it! Wanna try? So, think about your favorite song. Now, realize which feelings does it bring. Do you visualize any color now? The hearing of a few notes probably induced it!

Don´t loose that thought: now, you need to scrap about your favorite song in this color. Smart, huh? Scrapbooking is all about sensations and feelings and it´s a good thing to keep connected with them. Can´t wait to see what you´ll come up with!

Gabi B and I tried to play, look what we came up with:

Simply you - week 13

Hi everyone!  It's Thursday so that means another Simply you challenge.

This week I want you to scrap your Perfect, Selfish Day.  I know, we are all so busy it is hard to even imagine having a day all to yourself, but we can all dream right????  I know for me, my perfect, selfish day would find me at home, in my jammies, curled up in front of the fire watching some of my favorite movies.  My favorite movie being Sweet Home Alabama.  Here is my layout:

Myperfectselfishday_post_march_27

That's it.  Sit back, scrap, and dream of your perfect, selfish day.  I had so much fun with this challenge...I hope you do too!

I hope you can play along with me this week. A LO for this challenge, completed with at least 50% ScrapArtist products, will earn you 1 point toward your march madness score. Make sure you upload to the Challenge Gallery, and leave a link in the forum so I can leave you so love.  Easy Peasy. I can't wait to see what you come up with.

Hybrid Challenge: Inking the Edges

Hi there, Denise here with a new Hybrid Challenge for you, let's Ink the Edges!

When you run an ink pad along the edges of your card or layout, it can add a bit of definition to the edges, add a touch of color, or really pop a shape. There are lots of ink pad brands and colors at your local craft store, scrapbook store or Michaels. You'll want to look for Acid Free Ink.

We've shown a few of the popular brands to ink the edges of our cards. The Ranger Distress Inks are great for adding a slight coloring to the edges, the Antique Linen color adds a slight tan (my favorite). Pigment inks will give you opaque coverage, great to use with darker colors or bold colors. The Chalk Inks will look a bit softer, more transparent when dry. The smaller ink pads are perfect for getting into smaller corners, such as cut-outs.

Here's my card using the Ranger Distress Ink (Antique Linen).

Here's my card using some VersaMagic Chalk Ink.

You will have until April 7 to complete your card, upload your project to the gallery and we will pick the winner the next Monday. You can win a 5 dollar gift certificate for the shoppe, so join us! Participants in this challenge will need to use at least 50% ScrapArtist products to be eligible. Please note, this challenge will not be apart of the March Madness Contest.

Have fun inking your edges! :)

Heritage and Altered/Collage Challenges

Howdy All!

Erika (AKA dancingscrapper) here sitting in once again for Robyn and Christine's Two-Fer Tuesday!  I have a couple of fun challanges for you all this week.

What's in a name? I have always found the origin of different surnames to be so interesting. So I thought that would be the perfect theme for this week’s Heritage challenge; a layout featuring one or more of the surnames in your ancestry. If you haven't already, this is your chance to do a little homework/detective work and dig into your family history!  I guarantee you'll have fun and may just find something interesting and surprising about the orgin of your surname!

If you click here, you can learn more about the challenge.  For my sample layout I chose my maternal surname "Reagan":

Whatsinanameweb

Since I am still kinda the new kid on the block around here, I wanted to get to know you all a little better.  For this week's altered/collage challenge let's do just that; a collage of YOU through the years. As you'll see in my sample layout, I included photos of myself though the years and even chose to include all the different looks (however hideous they were) that I had just to give you all a good laugh! LOL But you can go with whatever theme inspires you (i.e. photos of you and your best memories or moments in your life, milestones, etc)

You can learn more about this challenge here

Methroughtheyearschallengew
I can't wait to see your collages!

As a reminder, each of these challenges counts as one point toward your March Madness contest points.

I hope you'll join us in the fun this week!  I can't wait to see your beautiful layouts!

March 24th - Mojo Monday

Good morning, everyone!  It's Kathy here bringing you another idea to kick start your mojo this week.

I am a girly girl at heart.  If there is a new beauty product on the market, I'll be the first in line to try it (lol)!  I am all about making yourself feel as good as you possibly can.  I don't wear make-up everyday, but I NEVER leave the house without my lip gloss!  Do you have favorite beauty products, or make-up that makes you feel good?  I know I'm not the only girly girl out there....fess up?  We girls need to stick together, and if we can share some beauty tips along the way, even better.  I can't wait to see all of your beauty secrets.  Here are a few layouts to give you some ideas:

Good Feature Friday

A very happy Good Friday to you all! I hope you have some exciting plans for a very early Easter this year! As always, we have another great featured product for you!

Gc_bohoframes_previewThese Vintage Boho Brush Frames by Gypsy Chick are just gorgeous! I love the Boho colours she's used in her preview, but as she says, they can be used in any colour, adding that perfect touch to your photos and your layout. I love all the blend mode opportunities these give, too. Quick tip for you - add one of these frames to your photo on a new layer, and play around with the blend mode options in the layer palette of your program - I find Burn, Overlay and Soft/Hard Light give some really cool results, and reducing the opacity can give a more subtle look.

Once again, the ScrapArtist Creative Team have put our featured product to great use - I love the subtlety these added to Kathy's photo, and what a great idea to use them as corners on the layout!

And look what our hybrid goddess Denise has made - again, subtle but very effective use of these frames on her spring card.

If you use these this week, or have used them before, we would love to see your work! You can upload them to our Featured Product Gallery at the ScrapArtist site so we can take a peek :)

Have a great weekend, whatever you are doing, and don't forget, it's still March, which means our March Madness event is still going on at the site! Lots of cool things to participate in and some great prizes, too.

Until next time,

Simply You (Week 12) - In Their Eyes

Hello everyone! Another Thursday is here which means a new Simply You challenge for you.

My scrapbook albums are filled with pages that share stories according to how I experienced it. I’ve got pages about my children’s experiences but they’re usually told from my perspective. My scrapbook pages are usually about what I remember of the moment, what I felt, what I thought. What if, this time, you scrap about what another person thinks about you? Yup, your challenge this week is to get someone else to describe you . It can be your child, your significant other, your parent or a friend. It doesn’t matter who as long as you get someone else’s perspective.

To help you along, I found these questionnaires here and here at Simple Scrapbooks that you might want to use.

I interviewed my son and here’s what he has to say about me:

Accdg_to_mig_web

Hope you can play along with me this week. A LO for this challenge completed with at least 50% ScrapArtist products will earn you 1 point toward your march madness score. Upload your page at ScrapArtist challenge gallery so that we can easily find it and admire your work.

Have a Happy Thursday!

Joy
